The idea that you want to take on less risk as you get older has been a constant theme of this book. The idea that we can subtract our age from 120 to derive the percentage of equities that we should hold in our portfolio is an oversimplification and should be avoided. We will consider the fine art of portfolio management and asset allocation in the final section of this book. There are much safer ways to approach the problem, but they are no more difficult given advances in technology and tools available for free and from your broker. If your broker suggests that you follow such a primitive strategy, get a new broker immediately.
