Dexterity measures agility, coordination, reflexes, and precision. It’s your character’s nimbleness—vital for dodging blows, performing acrobatic feats, or handling delicate tasks swiftly and accurately.
When your character attempts a physical action primarily involving grace, quickness, or precision that isn’t directly covered by a specific skill, the GM may call for a simple Dexterity check. This is done by rolling 2d10 and trying to equal or roll under a target number set by the GM, reflecting the difficulty:
- Simple: 16 or less
- Routine: 14 or less
- Moderate: 12 or less
- Difficult: 10 or less
- Challenging: 8 or less
- Severe: 6 or less
- Heroic: 4 or less
Your Dexterity also generates essential derived statistics:
- Quickness: (Dex + Dex + Mind) ÷ 3 (rounded down), determining initiative and reaction speed.
- Movement: (Dex + Str) ÷ 2 × 10 feet per combat round.
Dexterity underpins skills such as Acrobatics, Dodge, Sleight of Hand, Ranged Combat, and Stealth. High Dexterity makes your hero elusive in combat, swift to react to danger, and deft at delicate maneuvers, while low Dexterity suggests clumsiness, slow reactions, or poor coordination.
