A character’s status (merely bruised, injured, seriously wounded, mauled, or incapacitated) determines how quickly they can recover and how much medical help they need.
- Merely Bruised (above 75% HP):
- You’re sore and scuffed up, but still combat-capable with no special healing requirements.
- Natural healing: 1d10 HP per day.
- A successful Medicine check can add 1d10 to that day’s total.
- Injured (25%–49% HP):
- You suffer a –10% penalty on all rolls.
- Natural healing without any aid: 1 HP per day.
- If someone successfully applies First Aid within an hour of injury, you heal at 2 HP per day.
- A successful Medicine check adds 1d10 HP that day (once per day).
- You can handle light duties (walking slowly, simple tasks), but strenuous activity may slow healing or cause setbacks at the Game Master’s discretion.
- Seriously Wounded (50%–74% HP):
- You suffer a –20% penalty on all rolls.
- You can’t heal naturally unless you remain in bed rest all day (no significant movement or work).
- With bed rest only, you gain 1 HP per day. If someone succeeds at First Aid, that rate becomes 2 HP per day.
- A successful Medicine check grants 10 HP immediately (once per day).
- If you must leave bed rest for any reason, you gain no HP that day and lose 1d10 HP. Once you improve above 50%, you drop back down to the “injured” category with its rules.
- Mauled (75%–90% HP):
- You suffer a –30% penalty on all rolls.
- Initially, you lose 1d10 HP per hour until someone succeeds at a First Aid check to stabilize you.
- Once stabilized, you heal at 1 HP per day of bed rest.
- A successful Medicine check each day adds 1d10 HP (once per day).
- Any day you fail to remain in bed, you lose 1d10 HP for that day instead of healing.
- Incapacitated (91%+ HP lost):
- You are at or below 10% of your max HP and cannot act.
- You lose 1d10 HP per round until stabilized by First Aid.
- Once stabilized, if you are at 0 or fewer HP, you are held at 1 HP for a number of hours equal to the margin of success on the First Aid roll.
- While in this state, you heal at 1 HP per day of complete bed rest.
- A successful Medicine check provides 1d10 – 2 HP for that day, once per day.
- If your HP ever drops to a negative equal to your Body score, you die.
Stun Point Recovery
Stun Points bounce back more quickly than Hit Points:
- You regain 1d10 SP per hour of rest.
- Despite recovering Stun Points rapidly, each time you lose 5 SP, you also lose 1 HP. This HP damage must be healed via the regular Hit Point rules above.
