Chapter 2: Creating a Character

Alacrity Fantasy, A TTRPG by Adam J.. McKee and James G. Walker, Jr.

Creating a character in Alacrity Fantasy Edition begins with imagining the kind of hero you want to embody. Your character combines simple game statistics, roleplaying concepts, and your creativity. You’ll define your character’s statistics, choose a fantasy archetype or background, and invent a personality, appearance, and history. This character becomes your avatar in the fantastic world your Game Master (GM) presents.

Before starting, consider the type of adventurer that excites you. Perhaps you’re a skilled swordsman, a stealthy scout, a mystical healer, or a cunning mage. Maybe your character defies convention—a warrior who uses stealth and cunning, or a wizard who favors physical combat. Visualize your character clearly: is your hero brave, reckless, compassionate, or greedy? Your imagination shapes your character; the rules simply help you define their capabilities clearly.
