I’m very interested in using your text at my institution, Jarvis Christian College. We are a small Historically Black College in Hawkins, Texas.
Thanks for letting me know! I think everything I’ve made available is self-explanatory, but if I’ve omitted any information that you need, let me know.
I would like to use your textbook at Guilford Technical Community College for a Law Enforcement Operations class. We are located in Jamestown, NC.
Thanks for letting me know!
Adopting for use in an Introduction to Criminal Justice course at National Park College in Hot Springs, AR. Great job, great resource!
Hello,
I would like to utilize several sections of your Criminal Justice OER in an online Intro to Criminal Justice course I am designing for Schoolcraft College in Michigan. We would like to add content directly within the LMS with attribution . Content will only be viewable to registered students logged into the online section of the course.
That’s perfectly acceptable. Thanks for letting me know that you are using the materials.
I would like to use this book for an honors writing-intensive Introduction to Criminal Justice at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. I would add this link directly to the LMS with attribution as well as provide the link on the course syllabus with attribution. Content will only be available to students with a username and password for the College’s LMS.
Thanks for letting me know! Let me know if I can be of assistance.
Awesome job!!!!! Adopting your textbook for use in a Introduction to Criminal Justice course at Central Carolina Community College, Sanford NC.
Prof McKee:
I am adopting Section 4.1: Early History of Policing for my CJ201, Intro to CJ at Saginaw Valley State. I have posted the text on Canvas with a link to your original and an appropriate citation.
Fine job. I appreciate your putting the materials together.
Sincerely,
Ken Jansen

Dr. McKee,
We are adopting your Criminal Justice: An Overview of the System for our Introduction to Criminal Justice course at West Shore Community College in Scottville, MI.
Thank you for the resource!
I am adopting this as a text for Introduction to Criminal Justice course at Trine University in Angola, Indiana and will be posted on our LMS which can only be accessed via a student password. Not sure how exactly I will incorporate this as of yet, but decided on it for Spring Semester. Much better than any of the published periodicals which are too detailed for a one semester freshman level class.
I am an instructional designer at Central Carolina Community College in Sanford, NC. We would like to use your textbook in our introductory criminal justice course. We are developing courses using open educational resources for our students to help reduce the cost of higher education expenses and your textbook is an excellent resource.
Thanks for letting me know!
I got your book for my birthday before I start college in the fall. It makes everything so much easier to understand along with the phrases I’ve heard before in crime podcasts/ television shows! I just wanted to say this book is amazing and I can’t wait to learn more.
Greeting Dr. McKee,
I am a Criminal Justice Instructor. I am very interested in utilizing sections of your OER Text at my institution, Benedict College. We are a small Historically Black College in Columbia, South Carolina. The materials in your book are great resources for several courses I am teaching. I would like to add the content directly within the LMS with attribution. The content will be available only to students with username and password for the College’s LMS.
I look forward to your response.
Thank you in advance.
Lisa
You are perfectly free to use the material in that way! Thanks for letting me know.
Regards,
Adam
Greetings, Dr. McKee,
I’m an instructor and department chair of Criminal Justice at Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood, Colorado, right outside of Denver. I’m looking to piece together some OER materials for our Intro classes. I’d like to use your “Criminal Justice: An Overview of the System” online book. I think it is very well done, simplistic yet comprehensive.
Here’s how I’d like to use it: I am planning to create a Microsoft Sway page(s) for my course where I’ll start the Sway with an introduction to what I am expecting to cover in this unit of study, a supplemental video (maybe a Ted Talk or other explanatory video), a link to your website/chapter for them to read, links to any other resources they might want to check out, and then a Microsoft Forms chapter quiz embedded in the Sway. I will provide appropriate attribution to you/your stuff. The link will be to the original and I will also provide a link to the original in my D2L LMS. The Sway will only be available to students of the course through their sign-in of the LMS.
I’m excited to be able to use such a great resource. Thank you for all of the work you put into this!
-Chris
That seems perfectly acceptable! Thanks for letting me know.
Regards,
Adam
Dr. McKee,
I would like to use your course as a resource in a Canvas LMS for an Introduction to Criminal Justice Course that I am teaching to students at a local high school as part of a dual enrollment program with Bucks County Community College in PA. Thanks!

Dr. McKee,
I am a student at Eastern Gateway Community College in Ohio. We are currently using your volume Criminal Justice: An Overview of the System in a Corrections class. However, I cannot find any APA citation information for the volume. Can you indiacte where I might find it so that I properly cite what I use in my discussions and assignments?
With respect,
Phil C. Kantz, MBA, MPA, USMS (ret.)
I would like to use your materials for an online course which will only be accessed within our LMS and with a student username and password. Thank you for putting this up here!
I am a new instructor and currently teach Intro to Criminal Justice using Adam McKee’s Criminal Justice – An Overview of the System. Noticed that sections 6.2, 6.3, 6.4 and 6.5 don’t have any PowerPoints associated with them as the other chapters do. Just wondering if there has been any updates that would have those PowerPoints available? Any response would be appreciated. Thank you!
I am planning to adopt portions of this for my Intro to Criminal Justice course at the University of North Alabama. Links to the original content will reside within the individual course sections within our LMS and will only be available to current students for that semester.
Doc McKee, many apologies for missing this. I’ve been using your Criminal Justice: An Overview of the System for a few years now and overlooked the “in writing portion”. I’m an Adjunct, Part-time Professor with Pierce Community College with a main campus in Stelicoom, WA. I instruct primarily students who are either military personnel or their family members. I watched the text book I was using rise to well over $200. At that point I started searching for open source materials. Your publication was perfect for my class. Not only am I asking for permission to use the aforementioned, I am also interested in using your Criminal Law and Criminal Investigation publications in the future.
Thanks for the hard work you put into these, and even more for allowing us to use them.
Tim Reasoner
Dr. McKee,
I am teaching a community college Introduction to Criminal Justice class to 25 students at one of our local High Schools – remotely during COVID restrictions this semester. I would like permission to adopt your work, but need to change some of the format to adapt to their needs and technology limitations. Primarily pasting your sections into the LMS the students will be accessing. Materials limited to registered students.
Hoping that you could approve this use.
Professor Henry DiCarlo
Massasoit Community College
That sounds acceptable. Thanks for letting me know!
Thank you for this great resource! We are adopting this for our Introduction to Criminal Justice course at South Louisiana Community College
Dr. McKee,
During the fall 2021 semester, I’m scheduled to teach a dual enrollment community college Introduction to Criminal Justice class at a local high school. This class will be taught remotely via Canvas. I don’t have the number of students at this time, but I’m anticipating 20-30 students. I’m requesting permission to adopt your resources. I was told about this website recently and believe this is exactly what I need to build an open resource course. Any materials used will only be accessible to students registered in my Canvass course. I would greatly appreciate your approval.
Professor Wardell Carter
San Joaquin Delta Community College
Thanks for letting me know you plan to use the material! Powerpoints and other resources are available from the text index page via the “Learning Resources” links for each section. You’ll find everything here: https://www.docmckee.com/cj/criminal-justice-an-overview-of-the-system/
Sir , I would like to use your materials to teach a dual enrollment class at a local high school. Great job !!
I’m an adjunct instructor at a community college. I’ve always taught my Intro to Administration of Justice courses using a textbook. I’m scheduled to teach my intro class online to high school students in the fall of 2021. The school doesn’t have the textbook I use and the students aren’t required to purchase any textbooks. Therefore, I have to build my class from available resources. With your permission, I would love to adopt your materials. Are there any power points or chapter outlines available?
Dr. McKee,
The text and learning and teaching resources are all very well done. The amount of time and effort this must have taken is much appreciated. I am so impressed with all you have to offer that I’m abandoning the OER text I had originally planned to use and I’m adopting yours for my Introduction to Criminal Justice class at SUNY Morrisville in Upstate NY. I will be using it in our LMS (Blackboard).
Thanks for all of your hard work!
Hello Prof McKee,
I am teaching a Criminal Justice and Society course, in Toronto, Ontario. I would like to use concepts from your text to explain criminal justice to the students enrolled in the course.
Dr. McKee, I am adopting your Overview of the Criminal Justice System for my Intro to Criminal Justice class. We will use it in Open LMS.
I really hope your Juvenile Justice text is finished by next fall semester. I would like to use that one also. Thanks so much.
Hello Dr. McKee,
I’m adjunct professor at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO and wanting to use portions of your Overview of the Criminal Justice System for our Criminal Justice class. As many here have said, it’s excellent! Simple and comprehensive. Thank you.
We are using Canvas, and any materials posted will be attributed to you, linked directly, and available only to students currently enrolled in the class.
Hello, Dr. McKee,
We are planning to adopt portions of your outstanding materials for our Criminal and Constitutional Law classes at Des Moines Area Community College. We will link to the original content within Canvas and limit access to currently enrolled students.
