What You Will Learn

In this section, you’ll explore the differences between common law elements of murder and the modern statutory definition in the Model Penal Code. You’ll understand the distinction between assault and battery, and learn about the evolution of rape laws, including rape shield laws. Additionally, you’ll compare and contrast the definitions of arson and the elements of robbery with burglary under both common law and the Model Penal Code.
