Reading Assignment for Section 6.5
Read the following subsection from our online textbook: Section 6.5: Probation, Parole, and the Law.
What You Will Learn
In this section, you will learn about parole revocation and its impact on offenders. You will explore the major due process rights that violators have during revocation hearings and compare the Fourth Amendment rights of probationers and parolees with those of suspects not under correctional supervision. Additionally, you will understand the limits the Supreme Court has placed on the conditions of probation and parole that lower court judges can impose, as well as the circumstances under which the Court will find these conditions unconstitutional.

- SLO 1: Define parole revocation and explain the impact of revocation on the offender.
- SLO 2: List the major due process rights that violators have at revocation hearings.
