In this chapter, we examine the necessity of police working in partnership with all community stakeholders to accomplish their mission in a fair and equitable way. We also examine the core components of community policing. Finally, we use the example of “crackdowns” to point out how “aggressive enforcement tactics” serve to alienate communities and do more harm than good.
